Steph & Matt’s Festival Wedding at Wilderness Wedding Venue followed by a drinks reception at Preston Court in Kent.
As a Kent wedding photographer it was wonderful to be Steph & Matt’s Wilderness Wedding Photographer at their festival themed wedding at Wilderness Weddings followed by a drinks reception at the infamous Preston Court wedding venue in Kent.
When it comes to wedding venues in the UK, Wilderness Weddings is infamously known as one of the best for free spirited and creative couples. The Wilderness Reserve or Wilderness Weddings is an idyllic woodland venue hidden away in Kent. It has a gorgeous green valley with a lake, ancient woodland and water meadows – all with incredible views over the farmland and beyond. This stunning location served as the backdrop for Steph & Matt’s awesome festival-themed wedding. To top off what was already an epic wedding, after the dinner and speeches in The Wilderness’ woodland glade guests were escorted through the woods and onto the other side of the farm where Wilderness Weddings sister venue Preston Court was waiting – With eclectic decor and circus like vibes guests were greeted by Preston Court’s victorian carousel before they danced the night away in the majestic barn under 1000’s of twinkling lights.

A Wilderness Wedding Ceremony in The Boat House.
Steph and her girls arrived at Wilderness Weddings in two VW campers where Matt, their friends and family were all hidden away waiting. Steph & Matt’s Wilderness Wedding Ceremony took place in the magical Boat House, which sits overlooking the Wilderness pond. The Boat house was built on the farm using reclaimed materials, designed to connect with the landscape. Surrounded by towering trees and gentle breezes, the couple exchanged vows overlooking the lake – It was the perfect idyllic space for their festival style wedding.
Wilderness Weddings is more than just a venue; it’s an experience! As a Wilderness Wedding photographer, the moment I stepped onto the farm I felt surrounded and enveloped by nature. Towering trees, wildflower meadows and the tranquil lake created an idyllic setting that felt serene and personal to Steph and Matt. With natural light filtering through the trees and into the boat house it was a wonderful place for some natural and relaxed wedding photography.

Setting the Scene: Wilderness Weddings.
One of the highlights of photographing at Wilderness Weddings is the stunning natural backdrop. After the service guests made their way through to the enchanting woodland glade via a wooden footbridge that connects the glade with the water meadow. Brightly coloured feathers decorated the champagne shack bar, dream catchers hung from the trees and guests were greeted with Aperol spritz on top of a classic VW Beetle. Wilderness Weddings in renowned for its beautiful landscapes and rustic elegance, with old oak trees and silver birch rising tall in the sky and with the woodland glade in season filed with bluebells, foxglove and wild ferns – Wilderness Wedding Venue was the perfect spot to kick off Steph and Matt’s festival themed drinks reception.

Immersed in True Wilderness – A Whimsical Woodland Wedding.
After some drinks and some canapes, guests made their way into Wilderness Weddings’ giant Kata tipi tent. Holding up to 120 guests, the tipi tent was the perfect space for Steph & Matt and their guests to enjoy their wedding breakfast whilst sat along handmade, rustic wooden trestle tables and benches. The eclectic table settings with whimsical touches added that extra layer of personal touch to the day.
As a Wilderness Wedding photographer I love how the tipis opened up around the edges to bring the outside in. Guests sat and enjoyed their food with a view out of the tipi, through the foliage of the tall trees and out to the green valley beyond – It really enhanced the feeling of being immersed in true wilderness.

A Walk Through the Woods to Preston Court.
After the heartfelt speeches, guests were invited to do a conga line through the woods to the iconic Preston Court Wedding Venue where they stumbled across a surprise victorian carousel!
Rated as one of the top 5 most spectacular places to get married in the UK, Preston Court Wedding Venue is a particular favourite of mine and having photographed there a few times now I love the chilled yet theatrical vibe of it all, the carousel and the huge organ in the barn make Preston Court so magical and unique.
